Drink the nectar of the name 'Rama'! Oh' my heart drink the nectar of the name 'Rama'! leave the bad company, and do association of pious (saints and devotees) daily to hear the stories and pastimes of Hari. Oust the Kama (passion), Krodha (anger), mada (arrogance), moha (infactuation), and lobh (greed) from heart.. and thus, be immersed in the color (devotion) of the lord of 'Meera', who lifted the mountain. |
Meera Bai : Meera was a great devotee of Sant Raidas Ji who was disciple of Bhagavad Ramanand. Raidas Ji accepted Meera as his disciple and imparted her the name 'Rama' as mantra. After recieving mantra from a realised soul, Meera felt extreme happiness to no end. Meera herself composed 'Guru Milya Raidasjee' (गुरू मिल्या रैदासजी म्हाण, दीनी ग्यान की गुटकी। म्हा रो मन लाग्यो गुय सौं अब ना रहूँगी अटकी।। I found my Satguru Raidasji, he imparted me true knowledge, therefore I would not remain trapped anymore in mundane things). She has composed many Rama's Bhajan in Rajasthani. Meerabai was also used to contact Goswami Tulsidas ji to get guidance in spiritual path. Meerabai became a renowned and much respected devotee of Shri Ramanandi-Sampradaya.
