जानत प्रीति-रीति रघुराई ।
नाते सब हाते करि राखत, राम सनेह-सगाई ॥ १ ॥
नेह निबाहि देह तजि दसरथ, कीरति अचल चलाई ।
ऐसेहु पितु तेँ अधिक गीधपर ममता गुन गरुआई ॥ २ ॥
तिय-बिरही सुग्रीव सखा लखि प्रानप्रिया बिसराई ।
रन पर्-यो बंधु बिभीषन ही को, सोच ह्रदय अधिकाई ॥ ३ ॥
घर गुरुगृह प्रिय सदन सासुरे, भइ जब जहँ पहुनाई ।
तब तहँ कहि सबरीके फलनिकी रुचि माधुरी न पाई ॥ ४ ॥
सहज सरुप कथा मुनि बरनत रहत सकुचि सिर नाई ।
केवट मीत कहे सुख मानत बानर बंधु बड़ाई ॥ ५ ॥
प्रेम-कनौड़ो रामसो प्रभु त्रिभुवन तिहुँकाल न भाई ।
तेरो रिनी हौँ कह्यो कपि सोँ ऐसी मानिहि को सेवकाई ॥ ६ ॥
तुलसी राम-सनेह-सील लखि, जो न भगति उर आई ।
तौ तोहिँ जनमि जाय जननी जड़ तनु-तरुनता गवाँई ॥ ७ ॥

jānat prīti-rīti raghurāī ।
nātē saba hātē kari rākhata, rāma sanēha-sagāī ॥ 1 ॥
nēha nibāhi dēha taji dasaratha, kīrati acala calāī ।
aisēhu pitu tēm̐ adhika gīdhapara mamatā guna garuāī ॥ 2 ॥
tiya-birahī sugrīva sakhā lakhi prānapriyā bisarāī ।
rana par-yō baṃdhu bibhīṣana hī kō, sōca hradaya adhikāī ॥ 3 ॥
ghara gurugṛha priya sadana sāsurē, bhai jaba jaham̐ pahunāī ।
taba taham̐ kahi sabarīkē phalanikī ruci mādhurī na pāī ॥ 4 ॥
sahaja sarupa kathā muni baranata rahata sakuci sira nāī ।
kēvaṭa mīta kahē sukha mānata bānara baṃdhu baDāī ॥ 5 ॥
prēma-kanauDō rāmasō prabhu tribhuvana tihum̐kāla na bhāī ।
tērō rinī haum̐ kahyō kapi sōm̐ aisī mānihi kō sēvakāī ॥ 6 ॥
tulasī rāma-sanēha-sīla lakhi, jō na bhagati ura āī ।
tau tōhim̐ janami jāya jananī jaD tanu-tarunatā gavām̐ī ॥ 7 ॥
(Vinayapatrikā, pada - 164 । Gōsvāmī Tulasīdās)
Translation: Shri Rama [alone] truly knows the rules and ways of love and affection! Leaving aside all relations, Shri Rama upholds the one true relation of love only. [1]
King Dasarath in his love for Shri Rama could not survive and gave up his body [life] (as like giving up a mere straw, in grief of separation from Shri Rama, when Lord went into exile), and thus Maharaj Dasarath established the immutable fame for eternity in the devotion of Shri Rama; Yet in comparison to such a great father Dasarath, You bestowed the Mamta (love, affection, closeness, dearness) in greater degree to Jatayu the king of vultures, O' Rama! (Sri Ram himself performed the last rites for Jatayu, and took him in his laps during the last moments of Jatayu, This was not received by even Maharaj Dasrath; which made Jatayu more fortunate than Maharaj Dasrath in a way). [2]
You [Rama] first chose [gave priority] to end the agonies of your friend Sugreeva in separation of his wife Ruma and forgotten [for some moment] the agony of your own wife Sita dearer than your life! (You first restored the wife [Ruma] to your friend [Sugreeva]. By slaying Vali, You ended the grief of your friend Sugreeva first by restoring his wife and kingdom). When Your dear brother Lakshman lay wounded and unconscious in the battle-field, You were worried (and wept) a lot (for Your dearest brother), still you had concern in a greater degree for the welfare and future of Maharaj Vibhishana (who came in Your shelter leaving behind his home, wife, relatives, kingdom, and everything else, that how would I survive and even continue war after losing my brother dearer than life?). [3]
You didn't find greater sweetness than that of the fruits (berries) offered by Shabari anywhere else when the foods and refreshments were served to you at home or at the hermitage of your Guru sage Vashishtha or at your friend's or at inlaws' place wherever you were invited, there at every such occasions You never ceased to miss [remembereing] the sweetness of fruits (the love) of Shabari.[4]
Whenever seers, sages, yogis, hermits, ascetis etc started narrating Your real nature [as the most superior, the supreme Lord of all, the cause of all the causes, the supreme Purusa of Vedas, the all pervading, the formless all-encompassing Brahman, the supreme soul seated in everyone's heart, etc], then you humbly lowerd your head in modesty. But when someone calls You the ‘friend’ of a boatman (Kewat), You feel a great happiness in heart and upon being addressed ‘the brother of monkeys’ You consider self really honoured and praised. [5]
Tulsidas says 'Oh brother! There is none like Shri Rama in all the three worlds and the three periods of time ( i.e. past, present, and future) who remains [forever] under the spell and the influence of (or, can be easily satisfied by) pure love and devotion. He even went to the extent of declaring to Hanuman, ‘I am forever indebted to You’ (and Even If I give up my life for every single act of benevolence rendered by you, Yet I shall remain indebted and obliged to you for the rest, O' Hanuman! Let My obligation to you dissove in my heart forever and I may not find any occasion to repay them!) — Such is the pedestal of Shri Rama’s sense of gratification. Therefore, who feels more grateful and obliged for the services rendered to him than Shri Ram? [6]
(Goswami Ji thinks and says to himself) Oh Tulsidas! Even after seeing such a lovable, endearing, affectionate nature and sublime conducts and noble character of Shri Ram, if love and devotion (for Shri Rama) does not arise in your heart, then your mother [certainly] wasted her adulthood in conceiving and giving birth to you'. [7]
